It was fun to see old friends and catch up on what's happened over the years. It was also interesting to see how while some things change, some things definitely stay the same.

10 years...seriously?!
So this year marks 10 years since we graduated from high school. Wow. Katy had its reunion party in Houston (rather than in Katy) in mid-August (rather than on Homecoming weekend) on a Friday night (rather than on a Saturday for out-of-towners)...makes perfect sense, right?!

Nesting...
Sorry if you were expecting photos of the nursery....that's still a work-in-progress.
Oreo has been slowing creating a nest of her own on the side of the garage by the trash cans. Not sure if she is picking up on the pregnancy and her mothering instincts are kicking in but it’s pretty cute and funny no matter what. This is now her favorite spot in the whole backyard and will spend hours there if we let her. We tried to remember when we first noticed her little project and it seems to only have been a few months ago...so we've come to the conclusion she is likely creating a special place, albeit a dirty one (literally), for our little guy.

Whopper Junior - Part Deux
During our 20 week check up, the ultrasound revealed the fun news that we're expecting a baby boy! He actually tried to fool us at first...for about 5 minutes the doctor thought he was a girl: "Looks pretty flat in that area". She proceeded to take various measurements and listen to the healthy heartbeat and was about to finish up when the baby moved...and the umbilical cord moved...to reveal his man parts. I believe her reaction was "Wait a moment...oh...no, that is a boy...definitely a boy...one of his testicles has dropped!" (this will be fun to share when he is 16 ;) ).
He must have heard us saying he was a girl and decided to make sure we didn't leave thinking that and buying him a bunch of girly things. So he's already like his father...a trickster.

Fun With ARC Friends
A few weekends ago, Marci and Roger hosted a get together with members of the Alamo Racing Canine group. This is the flyball team Oreo is training to hopefully become a member of some day. After a yummy lunch, people and pups all headed down to the river (aka Chill Hill). It was a fun day and Oreo was tuckered out from all the swimming.

So very excited to be riding in the ATV

Summer Family Vacations
This year for the Cherry Family reunion we headed south to Corpus Christi. It was different from the typical trek north to Oklahoma and the change of scenery was nice. It was Oreo’s first trip to the beach and she had a blast playing in the waves. In addition to beach time, we also hit another “must” when visiting Corpus: Snoopy’s for dinner. It was as greasy and good as usual :)
Baby Bump at the Beach
From Corpus, we headed to Lake Livingston for a week. It was so nice and quiet up there. Very relaxing.
The only visitors we had were a family of ducks.
Oreo was fascinated with the ducks. Another day when they came back by, she decided to try and say “Hello”. The mommy duck was none to happy about that.
Of course, Oreo had lots of rides on the boat and jet ski.
I took the jet ski for a spin as well...mainly just puttering around…gotta be careful with baby on board!
Greg did some fishing and while had to throw a few small ones back he did have some pretty good catches to show for his time & effort.
In addition to fishing success, Greg achieved the goal of going shirtless for over 48 hours. Thumbs up at 63 hours!
Oreo also got her first taste of watermelon. She seemed to enjoy it.

We’re expecting!
In early May we found out that we are expecting our first child around Dec. 20. What a fantastic Christmas present! :)
While the tummy didn't yet give anything away,…

and of course, the ultimate proof, the ultrasound and hearing one of the most amazing sounds ever: the heartbeat of our child, fluttering wildly…it was beautiful!

While the tummy didn't yet give anything away,…
the proof was in the home pregnancy tests,...
the blood work results (doctor: “Thyroid a little low so we’re increasing your dosage. And congratulations, you're pregnant!”)…
